Mary Beggs, PhD, LMFT
Dr. Beggs received her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kansas State University in 2004 and has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2001. Her Colorado License number is MFT0000864. She also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Colorado.
During her career she taught at Kansas State University and as a Marriage and Family Therapist, she has worked with Kansas Children’s Service League as a Family Preservation Case Manager, Riley County Juvenile Corrections. Her early career was spent working with at risk families and families, individuals and children experiencing trauma. Her interest in play therapy and trauma informed therapy began during this time and carried into later employment with the Tennyson Center for Children where she served as Director for Community Based Services. At the Tennyson Center she managed school based Day Treatment Programs and In-Home Therapy services within the Denver Metro area and was responsible for supervising a team of therapists, family support workers, and teachers. Upon leaving the Tennyson Center, she helped to open the Eating Recovery Center in Denver and acted as a primary clinician and Milieu Supervisor during her time there.
Dr. Beggs practices and supervises from a Biopsychosocial, Systemic and Strength based approach. She works with neurotypical and neurodivergent children, teens, adults and families. She is experienced in working with diverse populations. She has supervised many therapists in her career and has maintained a private practice since 2004. She is trained in many different therapeutic modalities including Systems Theory, Play Therapy, Bowenian Family of Origin Therapy, Structural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Spirituality, and Trauma informed Therapy. She has advanced training in Psychopharmacology, EMDR, Attachment Theory, PTSD, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, and Eating Disorders. She is experienced in working with her client’s spiritual beliefs and practices.
