Olya MacDonald

Olya MacDonald is a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of the Cumberlands, with an anticipated graduation in May 2027. Originally from Russia, Olya brings a bicultural perspective to her clinical work, rooted in cultural sensitivity and a deep appreciation for the complexity of each client’s personal story. Drawing from her previous background in law and business, she offers a grounded, thoughtful presence shaped by years of helping people navigate difficult situations.

Olya enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families. Her areas of clinical interest include relational work, attachment wounds, trauma- informed, experiential and somatic modalities, and systems approaches. She believes that meaningful healing unfolds in relationship - with ourselves, with others, and within the larger contexts that shape us. Her approach is integrative, warm, and collaborative, honoring each client’s resilience, creativity, and capacity for meaningful change.

With couples, Olya is interested in helping partners move out of cycles of disconnection and back into closeness, curiosity, and genuine repair. She holds space for grief and difficulty while also welcoming humor, playfulness, and vitality into the therapy room, trusting that reconnection often arrives through lightness as much as through depth.

Outside of the therapy room, Olya enjoys spending time with her family and friends, listening to podcasts, reading, hiking, and playing with her two cats, Forest and Pepper.
